Why We Do What We Do

Our founder started Effective Professionals to create a business that raised the bar within the security, staffing, and business operational industry. What started as a service model based around providing state-of-the-art security, transformed into a business capable of handling much more.
Our founder’s desire to improve upon security measures started in 1999 while raising her five children. This interest was sparked after news reports reached her concerning a school shooting. While the shooting did not occur locally, it prompted her enhanced concern in wanting to ensure her children were safe. Determined to make a difference, she decided to go back to college and began training to develop safety protocols to use in the event of a similar situation.

Her devoted planning was put to the test when a student at her child’s school brought in a weapon. Luckily, and largely in part to her child’s swift reporting of the event, no one was injured. While her child advised the nearest security guard of the incident, she later found out that no formal report was ever sent to school officials or that the matter was ever taken seriously. 

The weight of this incident pushed her to bring her expertise in human resources into the security industry. Starting as a low-level manager for a national security company, she quickly worked her way up and earned the title of Operations Manager. After years of success and a desire to better the security industry, she decided to start her own school safety-certified firm, Effective Guard Professionals.
